In addition to being expensive, finding a qualified mold inspector can be very difficult. Most inspectors are also in the remediation business, a blatant conflict of interest. Inspectors should never be remediators, especially on the same project. It’s not only unethical to do both, it’s also illegal in every state where mold legislation exists. And don’t fall for the free inspection gimmick either. What you’re looking for is someone who specializes in this field and doesn’t have some other product or service to sell you, so the advice you get is unbiased and free of ulterior motives.
